PING! A new E-mail just popped
out in my Lotus Notes. A message from Susanne, my colleague in HQ office, a middle-aged
woman who has been wholeheartedly supporting me in CBU imports. By the time
being, we’re becoming more than just colleagues, though we never met one
another, we become instant friends by gradually sharing stories. As women, we
value relationship in workplace as a fellow human being trying to peek out a
living 40 hours a week.
I always mesmerized reading her
E-mails as she shared her wisdom and experience to me. One of the big lessons
she shared to me is to learn “to let go”. She said there
is a time for everything and when it is over, we have to let go. It may be hard and sad or it can be a relief sometimes but
it will be crossing our way again. My heart was pounding when I read her
message words by words.
I
am now 24 years old and still have difficulties to let go. I want things to
remain, I want people to stay, I want friendship to last forever but we all
have to learn that it doesn't really count what we want. And Susanne gently
advised me that we better accept what we get and we can continue to be friendly
and good, hoping to make the world a little bit brighter.
Susanne encouraged me to move on
and to stay true in being who I am. She taught me by example not to have
regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. Have no regrets.
Susanne has been my biggest inspiration in workplace. We keep corresponding one or two
times a week. And she (as always) concluded her letter with little mark: “Warm regards
from cold Stuttgart”.
